Class Pages

Welcome to our Class Pages. Here you can find out all about what is happening the four classes we have here at Murrow Primary Academy.

This year, our classes have been named after famous scientists and the children will be finding out about the scientist their class has been named after. The Reception class will continue to be called the Zebra class.

Below you will find a page for each of the classes. These pages contain lots of useful information for you including when your P.E. days are, what your class will be learning this term, information about your scientist and help and support for your homework.

Please also look at out calculation policy below as well as support for phonics and reading at home.

STP Caption Action & Sparkle Mark Video

Here at Murrow Primary Academy we follow a teaching scheme called 'Storytime Phonics' to support the children in learning to read and write in Reception and Year 1. Each day the children learn a new sound which is 'hooked' onto a storybook to help them remember. The also learn a 'caption-action' to remember the sound the letter, or group of letters make (phoneme) as well as a 'sparkle-mark' to help them remember how to write the letter correctly (grapheme). This video shows the letters and sounds taught in the Reception year.

These documents provide more information about Storytime phonics, as well as a list of the caption-actions and sparkle-marks.

This document is a glossary of the terminology we use when teaching phonics. The children soon become familiar with these words and what they mean so this may be useful when reading with your child at home.

Your might find these documents useful when reading with your children at home. Children should read there school reading books everyday.
