Class 4's work to complete while you are at home.
This is where I will upload any activities for you to complete. Please click on the three suggestions sheets to find out what to do. Children can complete a book review when they have read one of their books, including a book from home. We have also added a suggested timetable for your day.
There is a FAQ area on the fortnightly suggestions sheet with extra information to help you complete the activities.
Keep an eye on the website, Twitter and Facebook for updates and feel free to email me with any photographs of learning, or with any questions you may have. I have added a Class 4 blog on Purple Mash where children can comment, ask questions or just let us know what they have been up to.
Welcome to Class 4!
Welcome to Class Four, Mrs Batchelor is our teacher, Ms Cantell and Ms Stroud are our teaching assistants.
This term our topic will be ‘It’s Magic, Leisure and Entertainment’. We will be reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone and using this and our topic as inspiration for writing biographies, newspaper articles, balanced arguments and many more. We will also be learning about electricity and evolution within Science.
Years five and six are important years as we prepare for the SATs and the transition into secondary school. To help the children with this please encourage them to read at home and then quiz them on what they have read. Please use ‘why’, ’how’, ‘how do you know’ and ‘what makes you think that’ as sentence starters.
Times tables are really important in our Maths work so rehearsing them will really help (times tables rocks stars is brilliant for this; all children have a login). Every Friday the children attempt to defeat a Superhero, please encourage them to practice for them. Purple Mash is another resource the children can use, they are many games and activities on there to help them with their Maths and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
Remember your PE kit on Thursdays and Fridays.
Each term Class 4 will have homework as well as daily reading and weekly spellings to learn, spelling tests will be on a Friday.
