Welcome to Attenborough class.
Our new topic in Attenborough class is Explorers.
In Attenborough class we will have Miss Mee as our teacher and we will also work with Mrs Crawshawe and Miss Ewing.
I've attached some homework ideas which I hope you will all find interesting. Please send in homework books so that we can stick a list of these new ideas into them.
PE will be on Mondays and Fridays but, with no changing at school, please make sure children come into school in their PE on those days. Please ensure that you have sufficiently warm outdoor kit.
We will still be working in the classroom with doors and windows open so please make sure that all children are warmly dressed for the classroom as well as for PE.
We expect the children to be reading at home daily and practising flashcards.
Be Ready, Be Safe, Be Responsible - here's to another great term.
Points of contact.
Email Miss Mee on email@example.com for any questions about your child's learning. Any other information school may need, such as, illness, medical appointments etc please email the office on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer term 2022.
Attenborough class will kick start the new topic off with some fun in our very own woodland area, exploring and finding out its different features.
This links nicely into our science focus of living things and their habitats and map/field work in out geography focus. Art will look at the artist Matisse and his use of colours and patterns. P.E. will be dance and swimming in summer term 2, also working alongside POSH club. Other areas of new learning are ceremonies/ rules and routines in R.E., looking at word documents in computing and thinking with a positive attitude and being yourself in PSHE. We will continue to follow Jane Considine in English- Little Red riding Hood as a narrative and Big Cat to write a non-chronological report. Maths will look at time, measurements, multiplication and division.
Happy 2022! Welcome back to a new year and the spring term.
Spring term topic focus is Where we live. We will be focusing on Murrow, past and present, comparing villages, towns and cities, how Murrow has changed over the many years and looking at the wider world as a whole- naming/finding countries and continents.
Maths will cover a range of skills. Year one- addition/subtraction and place value within 50, length and height, mass and volume. Year two- multiplication and division, statistics, properties of shape and fractions.
In English we will continue to follow the Jane Considine scheme of work for the following books- stardust and the day the crayons quit.
We will continue to explore and investigate in Science, looking at everyday materials and plants.
Art/DT will follow using different skills using water based paints and clay.
During Autumn term our class topic is Explorers. We will be learning about different famous explorers and finding out why they are famous and an important part of history. Attenborough class will have fun exploring the world, just like our important explorers have done previously. We have already made a great start by thinking about and writing down what we may need in our exploring bags and have designed our own flags.
