Welcome to Class 2!
Hello! We are class 2. Miss Malkin is our class teacher and Mrs Crawshawe is our teaching assistant.
Summer term 2018
We are very excited to start our new topic on homes.
In English we will be focusing on non-fiction texts and writing our own information texts about our own homes. This will involve visiting a newly built house and walking around the village to look at different types of homes. We will be using the internet to look at websites such as right move to discover the different vocabulary they use to describes houses to create our own word banks.
During Maths this term we will be revisiting subtraction and missing number problems. Then we will move onto different units of measurement including weight, capacity and length.
In History we will be linking to our English work by comparing houses today to those built in Victorian times. During Geography we will be finding out about the areas we live in as well as learning about the United Kingdom.
During Science lessons we will be looking at different plants and what they need to survive.
Each month homework is set which links to our learning in school. Listening to your child read each evening will also support their learning and development. Please also continue to support your child in learning their flashcards and spellings as these support them in developing fluency in their reading and independent writing during English. We are encouraging children to learn their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables which is something that could also be practised at home.
PE lessons for class 2 are on Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has both their indoor and outdoor PE kit in school.
